Workshop Summary: Join us for a beginners watercoloring course at the beautiful Cascade Meadow Wetlands in the heart of Rochester, Minnesota. In this workshop series, you will learn a series of creative skills including: how to mix your own paint colors, techniques in painting with watercolors, how to capture representational renditions of your environment, and how to catalog your work in a journal format. This course will also include environmental education about wetland ecosystems & the importance of preserving your local watershed. Learn how to use art as a tool for observation and preservation of our local ecosystems!

Course Outline:
Week One: Color Mixing and Watercolor Techniques.
Week Two: Learning to Paint On-Site, “En Plein Air”
Week Three: Painting Collections & Scenes
Week Four: Creating a Finished Piece
Items to Bring: Something to sit on outside (a portable chair, a blanket, a foam mat) and a reusable water bottle.
Accessiblity Notes: The building and classroom space are ADA accessible. Much time will be spent outside moving & sitting along the Cascade Meadow Wetland trails; shade is minimal and only a portion of these trails are fully paved. We can adapt locations for painting depending on each student's needs.
